Biography
Opening the kiln after a firing is like opening presents on Christmas morning. I enjoy every aspect of making glass jewelry, from design through the firing process. The intense colors of the dichroic glass add a gemlike quality to every piece. Each piece is a one of a kind with its own personality and is just waiting for the right time and place to be worn and enjoyed.
My interest in art started with helping my first grade classes with art projects. But after 14 years, I left teaching and entered the world of business. For several years, I owned and operated a retail shop that allowed little room for creativity and self expression.
However, a visit to a stained glass gallery in 2002 ignited my interest in glass art. I became fascinated with the beauty and mystery of glass. I returned to that gallery many times, and I realized that my appreciation for glass art was moving from admiration to creation.
I recently set up my own glass studio and began designing little pieces of glass art. I’m particularly interested in fired glass jewelry utilizing dichroic glass. I believe the possibilities for design and expression are endless. I look forward to developing new techniques that will produce distinctive jewelry.
